New Bridge Construction in Bahía Blanca

Heavy equipment and machinery from National Road Authority have begun the construction of a bridge that will restore the connection of an affected stretch of national route 3 in Bahía Blanca. The project arises from a storm and flooding that occurred on March 7, causing damage to the road infrastructure in the area.

The damaged stretch is located at kilometer 692 of national route 3, in the area known as El Cholo, specifically on the Sesquicentennial park road, where the Maldonado canal is located. Intense rains caused the overflowing of the Maldonado canal and the Napostá stream, with more than 400 millimeters of water falling.

With the assembly of a Bailey-type bridge in progress, National Road Authority, along with contributions of heavy machinery, is working on reconnecting this crucial road that links the north with the south of the country. According to Mayor Federico Susbielles, the bridge will have a single lane and will allow the passage of buses and other types of vehicles, thus improving the connectivity of the city.

In Susbielles' message, it is highlighted that the bridge will not be allowed for cargo transport, but there are plans for the construction of a complementary structure to cover both directions of the route. The mayor has also expressed his gratitude to the workers of National Road Authority, many of whom have come from different parts of the country to collaborate on the project.

The work in the Bahía Blanca area focuses on the affected stretch of national route 3, which is completely closed, as well as on national route 35 from kilometer 30 to 107. On the other hand, routes 252, 3, and 22 remain passable, according to the latest report from National Road Authority.
